01Burj Khalifa

The tallest tower in the world, at 828m. You can simply admire it from Burj Plaza, in a stunning setting, or head up to the 124th floor, or even the 148th-floor summit — it all depends on what you're after and your budget.

02Dubai Mall

The largest shopping mall in the world, a stone's throw from the Burj Khalifa — 1,200 stores. Staying true to the city's love of excess: an aquarium, an ice rink, a waterfall, a souk, and the biggest names in fashion. Something for every budget.

03Burj Al Arab

The world's only 7-star hotel, sail-shaped, in Jumeirah.

04Jumeirah Beach

To stay in step with the city's extravagance, nothing beats the beach, surrounded by skyscrapers as far as the eye can see. Two camels regularly stroll along it, drawing quite a crowd.

05Dubai Marina: Marina Walk & Marina Mall

The Marina brings boats and skyscrapers side by side — day or night, a relaxing walk that's easy on the eyes. While there, take the time to stroll along the Marina Walk, a pleasant promenade among buildings and shops. The Marina Mall, smaller than Dubai Mall, is also worth a detour.

06A trip into the desert

Head into the desert for a guaranteed change of scenery — by 4x4, buggy, or camelback. We picked a 4x4 safari with a camel ride, shisha and sunset dinner, through Ceetiz. A great time, and excellent value for money.

07Souk Madinat Jumeirah

A modern souk to find typical Dubai goods — textiles, shisha, jewelry — laid out mall-style, opening onto Dubai's "Little Venice": boats cruise along the canals, with a view of the Burj Al Arab. A stunning setting.

Zero Gravity
249-299 AED (Fri-Sat)
Beach club buzzing day and night. Friday and Saturday: unlimited access to the venue, drinks and buffet included.
Aquaventure Waterpark
Waterpark at the tip of Palm Jumeirah, at Atlantis. One full day is enough to do it all. Tickets on Ceetiz.
Hard Rock Café Dubai
Big, lively venue, full merch shop — shame about the location, quite far from downtown (metro: Emirates station).
Abu Dhabi
~1h30 drive
Plenty of tour operators offer day trips to the city. Renting a car is an option (watch out for local driving), otherwise taxi (pricey) or bus (slower).

+Tips & Tricks

Taxis
Cheap, available everywhere. Go for the Toyotas with colored roofs — the others cost more. Ask for a price range before setting off. Careem or Uber also exist, slightly pricier.
Metro
Covers all the major spots, cheap, easy to find your way around (taxis still come in handy for some places). For a short stay: the Nol Red Card.
