02Bellagio

Nicknamed "the Pearl of Lake Como," one of the most visited towns in the region. Reached by boat from Tremezzo (Tremezzo, Villa Carlotta or Cadenabbia docks).

To make the most of the views and the town, it's best to go early, then get lost in the small streets. The other side of the shore, or the point near La Punta restaurant, are much quieter. Two villas are open to visit: Villa Melzi (English-style garden) and Villa Serbelloni (grounds open to the public, now a luxury hotel). Lunch at the Hôtel Splendide restaurant (€€€), lakeside with a view of Tremezzo.

03Como

For the rest of the trip, heading to the southern end of the lake. Stayed at the Bed & Breakfast La Villa & Spa, up in the hills of the town with a stunning view.
